Motivated or inspired? (How to make a masterpiece out of your life and succeed in your endeavours.)

“I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.”

  – Vincent van Gogh

Did you know that Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), the Dutch post-impressionist painter, mostly painted in the latter part of his life?

In just over a decade, he created about 2100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings — most of which date from the last two years of his life.

It was in the autumn of 1880 that van Gogh decided to move to Brussels and become an artist.

His brother, Theo, encouraged him and offered him financial support, so that he could study and develop his art.

The rest is history, as they say…

It is thought that painting helped the troubled artist manage his emotions — a number of hypothetical diagnoses have been proposed to account for his anguished life.

That would be a motivation.
A good reason to invest time, attention and energy in the pursuit of his art.

But art is also fueled by inspiration.
The touch of Grace.

Van Gogh’s masterpieces show pure, creative genius at work, produced despite his troubles, not because of them.

If you want to do anything worthwhile, it helps to be motivated.

Motivation doesn’t have to be positive.
It may well be a challenge that you must counter.

But to make a masterpiece out of your life, open to inspiration.

Inspiration is a meeting with the unknown.
It’s mystery making art through you.

When motivation and inspiration line up, you stand to experience greatness.

The kind that produces timeless, treasured masterpieces.

What masterpiece wants to come through you at this time?

Are you working to bring about a change in your life?
Create something completely new?
Are motivation and inspiration lining up for you?

Love and blessings,
